As one of the premier automotive performance shops in the United States, Motorsport Technologies Inc. (MTI) uses high quality performance parts for its services. Typically, vehicles require regular maintenance to ensure they run longer. Motor vehicles are a major investment for most people, and thus require proper care.
For some people, maintaining the car includes having performance upgrades implemented. There are many parts to consider in such a case, and there are a wide variety of tires, exhaust systems and engine upgrades to choose from. The savvy motorist will research the available options thoroughly before buying an auto part. They will investigate the benefits and disadvantages of the parts, and also consider how well they fit with the vehicle. From there, an automotive performance enthusiast will consider the various brands and choose the best option.

Aftermarket parts
Typically, a brand new car will be made up of stock parts. The formal name for stock parts is original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, and this refers to the parts that were installed by the vehicle’s manufacturer. Even when car owners take up the dealership on upgrades, the components installed will also be from the original car maker.

Aftermarket parts are those that are purchased and installed to replace the stock parts. Most aspects of the car, from the engine to the lighting and transmission, can be replaced by aftermarket parts. These parts are not designed or built by the original car manufacturer. For this reason, it is important to be aware of any stipulations in the warranty that touch on use of aftermarket parts.

Motorsport Technologies Houston uses some of the top automotive parts in the market to improve the speed and power of vehicles.

Houston’s Motorsports Technologies Inc. Tips for Starting a Car Performance Shop

In 1994, automotive performance enthusiast Jayson Cohen established Motorsports Technologies Inc. (MTI) in Houston, TX. For the next decade and half, he helped the company grow into a reputable national performance service shop that serviced clients from all around the United States. Under Cohen’s leadership, the shop was a formidable force in the automotive performance industry.

From MTI’s success, car enthusiasts and professionals looking to open their shops can note the following:

Startup expenses

It is prudent to have a detailed breakdown of the required startup expenses. When you’re starting from the ground up, you have to consider a lot of things, from construction expenses to purchase of equipment. Visit professional car shops to get a clear picture of what you might require.

Location

Take your time when looking for a potential location to construct your car facility. You want to establish the business in a place where it’s visible to drivers and close to the populated residential areas. Consider the environmental hazards that the facility might pose. Additionally, get the necessary construction and business operation permits and licenses required to run the business. There are states that don’t require an auto shop to have a license, but it’s good to contact the regulatory agency in your state to enquire about the same.

Inventory

The choice of equipment and parts to stock will depend on the variety of services you choose to provide. Common equipment include air compressors, car lifts, pneumatic lines, among others. Make safety a priority, so don’t compromise on equipment.

Motorsport Technologies in Houston wishes you all the best in your business.

Motorsports Technologies in Houston: Easy Performance Modifications you can try (part 2)

Many drivers look to improve the performance and handling of their vehicles through regular maintenance. As Jayson Cohen of Motorsports Technologies Inc. (MTI) knows, some easy performance modifications can also help improve the driving experience. From his service shop in Houston, Cohen has advised and implemented performance enhancements (and fixes) that have improved car performance. He shares some of them below.

Improved visibility

Regular halogen bulbs are good, but you can improve visibility (especially in dark conditions), by installing High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps that shine brightly. These lamps make use of an amplifier and special gas to charge the bulb. The result is double the amount of illumination you would get with ordinary bulbs.

Spark plugs replacement

Replacing your vehicle’s spark plugs doesn’t necessarily fall under the “modifications” category, but it makes a world of difference just by regularly replacing them. Over time, worn out spark plugs have to work harder to produce better sparks, which erodes the conductive elements. Replacing the wires also makes a difference as it reduces electrical resistance and improves insulation.

Exhaust upgrades

When you improve the car’s air intake system, you should also consider improving the exhaust system. Aside from allowing air to escape freely, such an upgrade allows the engine to function more efficiently. By using mufflers and resonators, your exhaust upgrade can keep the noise down and increase fuel economy.

As Motorsport Technologies Houston knows, you can upgrade the car safely without voiding the warranty. Where in doubt, the experts at the Houston-based performance shop advise on speaking with your dealership before undertaking any upgrades.

What Entrepreneurs can learn from Houston’s Motorsports Technologies Inc.’s Growth

Like many successful business owners, Houston native and owner of Motorsports Technologies Inc. (MTI) Jayson Cohen had no experience in running a business. However, over the course of the past two decades, he has learned quite a lot on how to keep a business steady and ensure continued growth, even in the midst of tough time. Regardless of the industry, business owners can find the following tips to be very helpful:

Know your strengths
While you may have to wear many hats at the beginning, be frank about your strengths and weaknesses. Don’t try to be everything, because it will mean you won’t focus on what you’re good at. Many people who stretch their abilities often jeopardize their chances of focusing on their strengths and working within their limits. The resultant pressure to perform risks the business’ chances of growing.

Eyes on the prize
You have to be strategic when it comes to growth. Set short, medium and long-term plans, track progress against these plans, and change them where necessary. If you don’t set goals early in the process, you won’t have a way to measure progress. When everyone in the business understands the vision, it allows for better accomplishment of operations.

Foster your talent
A business grows and expands on the back of its talented workforce. You should always look for ways to improve the work environment, benefits, and culture – aspects that motivate employees to keep working for you. For Houston’s Motorsports Technologies Houston Inc., the nature of work allows employees to be creative with performance packages, which enables them to feel like a part of the business.

Motorsport Technologies, Inc. - Automotive Excellence in Houston

In order to work for Motorsport Technologies, Houston mechanics have to display uncommon knowledge of high performance systems and understand how to modify engines to deliver the speed and power that high performance car owners expect. Motorsport was established in Houston in 1994, and was closed in 2008. In 2015, the owners of Motorsport reopened the store and have begun working with racing companies and private high performance vehicle owners to create the highest quality engines possible. All of Motorsport’s mechanics have been trained in performance engines and how to deliver the largest amount of power with considerations to safety.

Specialty mechanics like high performance auto mechanics have to earn experience in their particular field in addition to passing the Automotive Service Excellence exam. For high performance mechanics, a bit of creativity comes into the job. In order to get customers the power and speed they need, mechanics sometimes have to think outside the box to modify the engines in such a way to significantly increase power. Sometimes this comes from allowing the bore to be taken out to its maximum length without sacrificing the safety of the driver and structural integrity of the engine. All mechanics have to earn general experience working with engines to become fully certified. To make it as a high performance auto mechanic, they have to earn extra experience.

Motorsport Technologies Houston provides racing teams and performance vehicle owners the best options to create the fastest, most durable vehicle possible for their driving pleasure.

Motorsport Technologies - Helping People Build and Improve Performance Cars from Houston

Motorsport Technologies, Inc. is a performance car supply company based in Houston. Over the years, it has expanded to include a customer base throughout the United States. The company can ship parts for performance packages to customers throughout the country. Over time, the founders of the company hope to expand its customer base to international clients around the world. After a seven-year hiatus, Motorsport reopened for business in 2015.

A large section of the automotive industry belongs to customer modifications to performance cars to both increase speed and reliability and build a new performance car from the ground up. Many performance vehicles on the road today aren’t the specifically designed performance cars developed and sold by companies like Maserati and Ferrari, they’re user modifications or custom jobs by owners as a hobby. By modifying specific parts of the car’s engine, owners can fine tune their vehicle to increase top speed and acceleration, as well as improve the handling and maneuverability of their car. By making these modifications to parts such as the extractor manifold and others, users can greatly improve their car’s performance at high speeds.

Motorsport Technologies Houston helps private car owners make these modifications on their own. They ship specific parts to car owners all over the United States to help them make the adjustments they need. Motorsport also sells performance packages and tune-up services for performance cars designed and built for the purpose of driving fast. Using Motorsport Technologies, Inc. in Houston as a Model for Start-ups

Motorsport Technologies, Inc. was founded in Houston by two young entrepreneurs who had little more than educational backgrounds in business management and passion for performance cars.

Jayson Cohen and David Coates started Motorsport because they loved fast cars and they thought they could provide the necessary service options to keep them running for performance car owners in Houston and beyond. In their work in the founding and running of Motorsport Technologies, they exemplified three keys to success for all entrepreneurs:

·         Learn every day. Coates and Cohen had experience working on performance cars before they started Motorsport. They wanted to start the business in the first place because they loved performance cars and they wanted to help people keep their performance cars running reliably. However, they had to learn about how to properly care for performance cars during their time running Motorsport Technologies. They both made a commitment to learn as much as they could every day.

·         Don’t give up. When Cohen and Coates decided to close Motorsport in 2008 to pursue other ventures, they didn’t see it as giving up. They only wanted to see what else was available to them and what other dreams they could accomplish. Sure enough, they reopened the business in 2015 to continue to provide excellent service and parts.

·         Network down, up, and horizontally. Motorsport needed help from many sources to stay viable, especially in the early days. Cohen and Coates made connections with all kinds of partners in the mechanical and performance car industry, no matter what level the individuals were on.

Motorsport Technologies Houston , Inc. re-opened in Houston in 2015.
